i instantly fell in love with fan death when i first heard them on 20 jazz funk greats. as i am such a chaotic slacker, i forgot all about posting them and in the meantime, the american girl/girl band has been featured by some more tastemakers and opinion leaders. it's easy to see why everyone is all hyped about fan death, all of their songs are really catchy and yet manage to meet all demands of the average indie snob.
in a similar way as chromatics, their sound ranges somewhere in between new wave and disco, mixing organic elements like strings, bass guitars and piano with monophonic casio-style synth sounds. on top of that you get some enchanting vocals and catchy hooks and in the end you have a disco noir hit song like "veronica's veil" which has an all mysterious vibe to it and will definitely be high up everyone's top 10 lists at the end of the year. listen to "veronica's veil" and the more quiet yet amazing 'the constellations' right here, both in 192 kbps.

fan death - the constellations
i was told "veronica's veil" is dropping as a 12" soon, erol alkan seems to be busy on a remix and so it is rather likely that phantasy might be the lucky label. show fan death some myspace love by adding them as a friend!
