the twelves.

without a doubt, the twelves from brazil are one of the best production duos to emerge from the blogs, constantly improving and blowing up ever since their first remixes were passed around about one year ago. i have been trying to get ahold of some unreleased material of them for ages, probably even annoyed them with my regular messages on myspace but finally, today is the day where they sent a mail with some great new sounds my way and i am glad i can finally scratch them off my 'too cool for discodust' list.

previously the twelves were only known from their unsigned remixes for kylie minogue and yelle which were soon followed by official remixes for the likes of black kids, theatre of disco and zeigeist.

we are proud to premiere two original tracks by the twelves that they have been sending out to a few labels already and got pretty good feedback for. the vocals are all home-recorded so these versions might not be final, in case they are actually getting a release. i wouldn't know why not though, as both 'works for me' and 'when you talk' sound like excellent mixtures of vintage synth-fueled french house and really catchy and driving electro-influenced indie pop.

if i'd run a label i would tell them immediately not to send it out to anyone any more and take my turn to get rich but obviously those a&r's out there are sleeping again. enough talk, download and enjoy two songs by the twelves that are probably going to be my favorites for this weekend:

the twelves - when you talk
the twelves - works for me

now show the twelves all your myspace love, in order to let them know discodust readers have taste and are really passionate about music (cough), so that the twelves will be more than glad to hook us up with even more of their tracks in the future!

nice synth, but needs more melody and hook. The keys are the only thing that really works in both of these tracks. this could be fun live, but at the moment it doesnt not stand out enough. in my ears that is.

hey hey I love 12ves remixes from the past year or so. I DJd many many of their rmxs..a treat

I have to agree. awesome synth, great production. love it.

but have to agree again..

but there isn't compelling hooks.. plus goes too far w/ the idea and doesnt break off so it doesn't catch attention all the way thru

mr anonymous, you just nailed it. I agree the remixes that they have done are very good. And the def know theire shit when it comes to production. Im not sure about his voice, with these kind of songs you dont need a perfect voice. But its needs that extra something. Maybe beggers cant be choosers :)

i am a bit surprised about the feedback as i really enjoy these tracks. and as far as the vocals go, like i wrote, they are not really 'final' yet.

but why be so hard on them? to me this sounds like a much more enjoyable version of phoenix. or a much more danceable version of insert-your-indie-pop-heroes-here.

i second the phoenix feeling

Its not soo hard, its def good! But I guess when you listen to a track for the first time you wait for something. It didnt come when I first listened to it. But hey, I have it in my collection now. And I will play it out loud and I will give it another chance. Hey I would dance to this for sure, and would def not turn it off. So no harsh comments from me. :) respect for sure.

First off Miss K. these track are far more thought out and song structured then half the bullshit thats posted here, the synth treatments and instrumentation are a perfect example of obvious "song writers" who are producing "dance music". i hate to say any jackass with a computer and some skinny jeans these days can toss there shit up on a blog. lets really listen for the artist who stand out is all I'm sayin... that goes for all of us..

cheers.

style animal ! Totally agree, 100%!

DISCODUST RULEZZZ!!!

Favorite electro indie disco trash blog.

Another great post...

Though wut up with that Keedz smack?

Sounded like a scam as soon as the ultra-suck-on-lords-stuff-blindly lyrics kicked in.

Justice themselves have recently been saying that they are toning down the Christianity theme for what seemed like an admission it wasn't fair or a good idea to force it down people's throats with pop music. Kudos to that.

Please let us at least know what the fuck was up with that joke.

Your loyal readers are curios...

More research just dug this up:

Stand on the Word is from like 1982.

It sounds very similar to Dance.

Which is not too surprising.

Some house music remixes also came out.

The version Discodust posted sounded like an edit of the house version.

'dust lover: i just didn't feel it should be up here after i heard it is not associated with justice at all. and some more stuff i don't really want to get into here.

no one told me to remove it though, i just deleted the post and can't give you full disclosure on the reasons without spilling things that don't belong in public places. sorry.

Keep up the agressive myspace messages if this is the results we can expect!

Check out a new mix from DJ Klever and old mixes from Crookers, Ajax, Tranter, K.I.M. from Presets, Cajuan and Aston Shuffle on MIXD UPT.

Also keep an eye out for upcoming sets from MSTRKRFT and Princess Superstar.

(IT WASN'T JUSTICE!) duhhhh...
the twelves lyrics are lacking, these guys are too old to be writing lyrics about partie pics. they aren't theives like us or some other nilistic kitsune band. also... comment @ 11:56 = the twelves?? somebody mad cause they're too old to fit into a pair of cheap mondays?

I like both of them, it kind of reminds me of Benjamin Diamond's first album in the whole french touch combined with actual songs way. Good stuff.

"Works For Me" is a fuckin tune.

These guys are definitely talented and its dope to see and hear their original and remix stuff making noise the way it has been.

these two songs are fucking great.

i think people are just complaining because of the idea that "these versions might not be final," but fuck it.

if they are indeed not final, i wouldn't mind if there was more to the already charming and proper lyrics of "Works For Me".

otherwise, keep up the good work, twelves!

In love with both these tracks. I disagree, I find them to be very catchy with good hooks. And the production is incredible as everyone has said. More twelves please.

"When You Talk" is a great track, but I agree with anonymous(10:15:00) with regards to "Works For Me"

Neither of the two hold a candle to most of their remix work, but both have me excited to hear where they're going with this new material.

Those songs are incredible! I am not a fan.
