futurecop!

after coming back from their australia tour, the futurecop! boys hit me up with a rather twisted mix featuring nothing but eighties hits and a few of their own tracks. they also told me to take down their tracks i put up about a year ago as they have got an actual release coming up soon! congratulations! let's celebrate with them, listening to their 'futurecop! we are future! mix'.

futurecop! - futurecop! we are future! mix

check the comments for the tracklist and watch out for the upcoming futurecop! release. (and never forget: we dream the same dream, we want the same thing!)

futurecop are great, but this mix isn't. lot of VERY obvious choices, ableton artefacts, volume jumps, and unspectacular mixing (apart from the transformers / in time bit at the end). didn't get my house party started.

1. Madonna – Borderline

Futurecop are awesome coz they dont give a shit, theyre just pop (but some how still cutting edge - genius)so it is a good way to promote, what do you think they should have played - noise?!?! - now thats obvious!

Obvious, utterly pointless and truly abysmal

I'm a big futurecop! fan, but I have to agree with jimmy on this one... Not what I expected

haterz! if you can't even appreciate belinda carlisle, you'll never get it.

If you ever get the chance to go to a Futurecop! gig, you'll soon learn that they're not about seamless ableton-performed tricks & effects. it's all about remembering a time where your freshly-made mix-tape (complete with 'my little pony' stickers & track-list written in glitter-pen) was worth more than your mother's life.

Yes, there are better examples of dj craft in the world. But who cares? - just look at the tracklist! LOOK AT IT!

amen brother.

you can hear all those tracks on the million cheesy hits FM stations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. i got into electronic dance music to escape this rubbish, but it seems i never ever will. it follows me even to the underground music blogs!

I love these comments - its exactly what i thought this mix would do lol

why would you post a mix just to get negative comments?...are you some form of strange musical masochist?

a bit of constructive criticisms ok you know, maybe if you take on board a few things you'll suck a little less

warm regards

coz its funny, and it gets people like you pissed off - freak! and gets other people absolutely loving it! and nothing in between -its fun pop music in your face!

Any comments like "it's just pop", "it's not about seamless mixing" etc. are just stupid.

OF COURSE it's ALL about pop - it doesn't mean that you shouldn't make an effort to make things the BEST THAT THEY CAN BE. Thus country is chock full of piss-poor, half-arsed, lazy 'culture'.

This could be better. It could be tighter, punchier, funnier, more original. Why isn't it better? Because someone has been lazy and said "that'll do". Fuck that attitude. Demand more.

Thanks everyone for your comments! We'd take into to consideration, but u gotta remember that what we as futurecop create has been inspired by the songs in this mix! its not expected no, but its what we listen to to get music out like it is, we dont listen to other bands like us for inspiration that'd just be like copying.

So... it's not very good, but that's irrelevant because these songs are important to us.

I suppose that's one way to treat an audience.

re:jimmy silver
but who are u to judge what is good and what isnt?

Anonymous said...

Who am I? Just a member of the audience.

No-one above is denying it's not exactly the best mix in the world. That can be judged objectively. And if it's poor, why not say so? Why be so pathetic and gutless as to say 'who am I to judge'?

the fact of the matter is, what youre saying is an opinion, which is biased..so in reality it means nothing..

these guys have said they dont make music to please the audience, its for themselves, and the fact that ppl like them is an extra.. and i think thats the best state of mind to have.

"these guys have said they dont make music to please the audience, its for themselves, and the fact that ppl like them is an extra.. and i think thats the best state of mind to have."

Well, that's been a oft-expressed attitude amongst indie artists for a couple of decades. Funny how people who say that never just release their music in some shape or form and leave it up to the audience to find it: they promote themselves with tours, singles, interviews, press release, mixes, blog exclusives etc. just like any other artist.

..and u were an artist when?? that you know thats how it works?

Dear Futurecop.
This is mix is motherfucking cool.
Really.
Simply Minds,Robbie Robb – In Time and etc - super!

they aint trying to show they know everything about programming they do say this on their interviews that they only learned from scratch a year ago - instead of boasting how technical they can be, they say the opposite - i think thats really cool. anyway those guys saying negative comments - if you guys are such musical wizz kids why are you all still unknown musicians! - think about it ;) who cares anyway futurecop makes awesome music!
