after a much too long break, it feels so good to be back with moulinex - two talented producers from portugal (while one of them currently resides in munich, germany). although their tracks are always as energetic as current rave bangers, their love for classic french house remains obvious and the whole moulinex sound is always deeply rooted in disco with influences ranging from giorgio moroder over daft punk to jackson.

up right here for you are their two latest productions. while 'leisure suit' is a real uplifting disco house tune complete with horns and spacey chords, 'break chops' starts off with cut-up guitar samples and ends up with driving growling synths aiming straight for the floor. you seriously don't want to miss either of them, so get them immediately:

the best person that ever lived in both portugal and bavaria, moulinex, finally has some of his unique and untouchable goodness for us to share again! while it is pretty obvious that college would hit him up for a remix, he also scored an official remix for sebastien tellier. another proof that blogs are having some serious impact on the industry and also proving that you get what you deserve when you just work hard enough for it.

the moulinex version of 'kilometer' is hands down the best remix for that track out there, sticking close to the title of sebastien tellier's album and re-defining 'sexuality'. of course his rework of 'fantasy park' by college is just as great, so make sure you get both right now!

i doubt my friend moulinex needs any introduction on discodust at all, so i am getting straight to the point: here is a brandnew official remix he did for 'lights & music', the latest single by cut copy. even though it didn't make it on to the final release, i am sure you will all love it, just as much as everyone enjoyed his earlier works - once again, he stays true to his original chainsaw and candy style. enough words, get it right here:

no, this is not the start of a new series on discodust. due to excessive slacking throughout the easter weekend and dreamhost having some problems they obviously don't want to reveal yet causing slowness and actual downtimes on my file server, i've missed quite a few posts. and as i am not really in the mood to make twenty-five dedicated posts right now, prepare for an exception to the 'focus on one artist per post' rule, here's a bunch of [HIGHLY REC'D] remixes that i have almost missed out on.

rewind.

buffet libre strike again: their new project 'rewind' is all about 80s cover versions and remixes. for the first edition of 'rewind', they managed to get a stunning total of 57 contributions, a lot of them exclusively done for the project. among the participating artists are a couple of quite established acts like dragonette, south central and electric soft parade as well as a lot of discodust favorites such as frankmusik, keenhouse, cryptonites, overthrill or trash yourself.

out of all the contributions, i decided to post three of my favorites: first of all, the awesome sidechains remix of my favorite madonna track ever: 'into the groove'. then a beautiful moulinex (pictured above) cover version of disco classic 'come on closer' by pineapples and also really well done, joe & will ask? covering 'the things that dreams are made of' by the human league. enjoy all of them at 320 kbps right here:

symbolone.

before i totally get lost in hibernation, i'd like to introduce you to symbolone. rumour has it they are two identical twins from croatia and ireland who just found each other six months ago and decided to team up to write music together. obviously this was a great decision, as their anthemic slow motion retro disco hymn 'love juice' is said to be featured on an upcoming fabric mix by no one else but justice. fans of alan braxe and everything valerie will love them.

they are currently working on their first ep which will contain two originals as well as two remixes and will be available as a limited edition. discodust favorite moulinex is working on a remix as well, we will keep you posted. enjoy two originals from symbolone right here and stay tuned for the ep:

xinobi.

discotexas - the label by discodust favorites moulinex and xinobi is finally up and running! they kick it off with their first release, 'day off' by xinobi - buy it now on beatport - and seriously, it couldn't be any better. 'day off' is a disco sample-based french house-flavoured track with a really driving bassline and a guaranteed floorfiller. check it out right here:

the release features another original track by xinobi, once again featuring a great sample that sounds very 80s and filmic. while i might be totally wrong guessing that, i am definitely right when i am saying it is a banger as the discotexas guys told me this track had yuksek running back to the dj booth after he was done with his set and asking which song is playing. but hear for yourself:

we haven't had a treasure fingers post on here in a while, but it's not for a lack of love. he's a busy guy and if you take a look at his myspace schedule, it's choc full of tour dates and upcoming releases. maybe the only time he can squeeze in some production time is in airports and planes. 6 hour plane rides may not be so bad after all, haha.

apparently he just cranked this edit for diamond cut out on the plane the other day. hey, i'm not mad at filters to pump up the disco feel.

ben mono + yo majesty.

luis from moulinex recommended his good friend producer, remixer and in demand dj ben mono from munich to me and damn, i am glad i have found him! while most of the german producers spent the last couple of years to try hard to breathe life into the dying minimal monster again (eww, you necrophiliacs! what's the superlative of 'so last summer' again?), ben mono is always reaching out for new sounds, labelling his own style 'bit-hop' which is somewhere in between hip hop and electro, just like hip house (for the elders among us), ghettotech, grime or the recently reborn (cough) 'new rave' (cough) culture.

the people over at legendary german label compost records (look at their discography!) were kind enough to let us share the lorenz rhode remix of 'hit the bit', the title track of the recent ben mono album, also featuring miami bass queens and hipster favorites yo majesty keeping it regal. starting off with an old school electro beat and king, well, queen style raps this quickly evolves into the best remix alan braxe never made - a bouncing floorfiller full of wonderful chords along with a funky bassline and enriched with playful retro synth-solos.

when saints go machine + siriusmo.

when saints go machine is the name, denmark is the country. there's not much more you find out when you roam the net for stories about the electronic pop group from copenhagen. when saints go machine are more about attributes, which most of the time are something like fabulous, futuristic, fresh and fast forward. there might be some more, but i am not that much into danish, hence the only thing i remember is 'kompetent'.

anyhow, there have been some significant collaborations with musicians i really like: zombie disco squad, our beloved moulinex and now siriusmo, one of the most gifted folks from my hometown berlin. the latter is what we've got for you today. as a bonus there's one more track from their forthcoming ep. enjoy danish understatement in pop music.

discodust party.

while some non-believers out there still try and combine banging electro, post-dancepunk, indie-influenced floorfillers, new french touch, fidget and retro-disco sounds in zeitgeist-terms like 'new rave' or 'blog house' and call it dead or over, it is without a doubt the sound that works best on the dancefloor, new promising producers show up daily and the scene is still going strong. so is discodust and after about a year of blogging, it is about time to take it to the next level.

the discodust editors (well, that's currently just me) and our designers from the zonders invite you to the first discodust party this saturday, november 10th at the atelier frankfurt featuring discodust favorite felix cartal from canada who is actually the first artist who ever hooked us up with an exclusive tune ('moss vs. tree') and nowadays gets massive support from top acts like mstrkrft. another dj-set at the party will be played by moulinex from portugal whose tracks got some of the best feedback on here ever.
