salem.

although i screwed up regarding featuring them on here before, i have always been a fan of salem and so should you. born and raised on the outstanding acephale label, the true forerunners of the 'drag' genre are going to release their album 'king night' on iamsound late this summer.

the album's title track has just crashlanded on the interwebs and shows a significantly higher influence of the uk's 'purple' sound along with the signature tr-808 drums, eerie synthesizer pads and (not-so) sacred choirs. don't miss this unexpected turn from salem, a very special kind of summer jam!

thanks for the heads up to grindin, stereogum and pitchfork.

Ok so this is totally a dub-step track. Is electro dead?

Nearly a month since the last post and this is the crap you post? Not cool, discodust is slipping.

@aleks

That Pitchfork would even give this track a "best new music" title is pretty much implying that Dub-step is more of what they perceive as a better genre. They won't even rate a Boys Noize album, but will suck Major Lazer's dick and give their "album" a good rating. At that same time, really amazing electro music has been scarce as of late. Dub-step has AIDS and it seriously needs to die.

I can't get enough of SALEM right nowww, so good.

this is not dubstep. neither is major lazer. pitchfork are doing good. and as everyone else, their goal is to cover interesting music and right now, that's definitely not 'electro'.

plus: aids is no joke.

This actually owns and if you can't rock multi-genre music then eat a fart. Salem rules, witch house rules, Discoduust rules (but needs to post more)

I would find this track more enjoyable if the mix didn't sound like total ass; plus it's kind of on Jokers nuts.

who cares what genre this song falls under. Dub-step, Electro, AIDS, Joker's nuts? Why do you have to pull it apart? Most songs people listen to have traces of more than one genre. Music isnt about what genre it falls into, it's about how it makes you feel. Music is art, and art is always open for interpretation, but in the end your interpretation doesnt change the piece of art or body of work.

Summer jam? I can't agree. It's noise. A summer jam is upbeat. A summer jam says "grab a joint and your favorite drink and get in the pool with your friends"... this doesn't make me want to do that.

aleks said...

that's why i said it's a 'very special kind of summer jam'.
