cécile.

the always amazing people from valerie keep bringing the good stuff, making me feel even more useless and slackerish, dragging me down even more because i don't get around to check for new music much these days. but fortunately i can always relate on soulmates like college to bring the heat, so here's cécile from italy delivering some serious disco techniques. i am not sure yet what i like better - the space synth epic 'andromeda' or the soulful laidback jam 'una domenica italiana' but i feel comfortable just leaving that choice up to you.

cécile - andromeda
cécile - una domenica italiana

you wouldn't believe it but cécile is currently in the studio with bob from the bloody beetroots working on a remix and right after that, he'll get busy finishing off his first ep! i can't wait!

light week... everything ok?

That was a bit boring. Like most Valerie stuff tends to be. :-(

Great Stuff. On the other side, looping obscure samples and passing it off as original material just doesn't sit well with me anymore. Catchy tunes none the less.

i will give him the benefit of the doubt...but if that is just a 80s italo disco sample played in full (not looped or chopped) with just a kick and snare added then that is super duper lame.

on the other hand i just listened to the second track and that one is solid and quite the groove :)

that's the thing none of these songs contain samples..

i'm glad they are so close they can get mistaken :-)

I suppose una domenica italiana is sampled from dennis coffey? does anybody know the name of the original song? I would madly appreciate it!

no samples.. dennis coffey played the guitar lick himself on the song. it was recorded at this year's red bull music academy where he was lecturer and i was a partecipant. the song is actually composed by me and another italian partecipant: delphi, who didnt get credit in the post. so here is his myspace link www.myspace.com/dampingfactor

check him out, he has a new great release on pigna records!
ciao!

I think you must be italian to comprehend what a tune is "una domenica italiana". I put this tune as a background with a friend of mine and without knowing the song name he told me "This song is like sundays passed with my relatives, from the lunch till the afternoon on the couch with my grandfather watching cycling on tv, The long sundays when i was a kid" This is pure gold and a heart piece, the identity of the most simbolic day of a country in merely 8 minutes. Come here, live a sunday here and you'll get it. Thanks cècile, keep up the good work, and if the 6th february you'll drop this tune i have to be there.
